Two more new teams have debuted in T20Is and now the total number of teams playing T20 Internationals has gone up to 95. A three-match T20 series was played between Japan and Indonesia in Sano (Japan) from 9 October to 11 October, in which the hosts won 2–1. Japan beat Indonesia by 65 runs in the first match and 75 runs in the second match, while Indonesia beat Japan by three wickets in the third match to register their first win.
In the first match on 9 October, Japan scored 143/7 in 20 overs, in response to which Indonesia’s team could only score 78/9. Ryo Sakurano-Thomas of Japan set the record for taking 5 wickets for 17 runs in the debut match itself and was also adjudged man of the match.
In the second match on 10 October, Japan scored 179/4 in 17 overs, in response to which Indonesia’s team could only score 104/6. The match was of 17 overs due to rain. Japan’s Kendall Kadowaki-Fleming was adjudged man of the match for his scintillating knock of 81 runs in 40 balls.
In the third match on 11 October, Japan’s team was all out after scoring just 79 runs in 16.3 overs, in response to which Indonesia won by losing seven wickets in 16 overs. Ketut Artwan of Indonesia was adjudged man of the match for taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs.
Kendall Kadovaki-Fleming top-scored with 98 runs in the series, while Ketut Artvan took 7 wickets in the series. Kendall Kadowaki-Fleming (81) also held the record for the best score in an innings. Rio Sakurano-Thomas (5/17) holds the record for best bowling in an innings.
