Afghanistan player had to face defeat in the T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka. Earlier two matches were washed out by rain. Captain Dasun Shanaka appeared happy after Sri Lanka’s victory. He made an important statement about the performance of his team.
Dasun Shanaka said it was a good performance with bat and ball. Dhananjay de Silva played a brilliant innings. He showed that it was not just about challenging the bowlers in T20, he timed his innings. Credit goes to him and Vanindu. The bowlers bowled in the right areas. We got some consistency today, which is important and that has to be continued in the next game as well. Other games are beyond our control, but we are aiming to win our next game at a healthy rate to give us a good chance to qualify.

Player of the Match Vanindu Hasaranga said that we lost the last two matches against Australia and New Zealand. We had to play our best game. I am very happy. In the last match too, I thought Zampa bowled well. I tried to change my pace here. Perth was good for the batsmen. Against Australia, I gave away some runs. But I knew I would return. I was supported by big boundaries here.
It is worth mentioning that while batting first, Afghanistan team achieved a score of 144 runs for 8 wickets. Vanindu Hasaranga took 3 wickets for 13 runs. Playing in reply, Sri Lanka’s team achieved this target at the loss of 4 wickets. Dhananjay de Silva made a fifty with a scintillating batting performance. He remained unbeaten on 66 off 42 balls.
