Scotland’s squad announced for T20 World Cup, uncapped batsman included

Date:

Scotland has also announced its squad for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. The 15-man squad also includes two leading fast bowlers, Josh Davey and Brad Wheel, and an uncapped batsman. The team will be commanded by Richard Berrington. Fast bowlers Josh Davey and Brad Wheel had impressed a lot in the T20 World Cup played in UAE last year. For this reason, he has got a place in the squad this year as well.

Young batsman Brendon McMullen has been included in the national team for the first time and he may get a chance to debut in the World Cup. Apart from this, three key players have also been discharged from the squad playing against New Zealand. Veteran pacers Ali Evans and Gavin Main and batsman Oliver Heyers missed out on a place in the last 15.

In the batting, the responsibility will be on the experienced Henry Munsey and Callum McLeod, including captain Berrington. The Scotland captain had a very good performance in the last edition and scored a total of 177 runs including two half-centuries. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that this time too the team is going to depend heavily on its captain Richie Berrington in terms of runs.

Scotland team is in Group B. Other teams in this group include Ireland, Zimbabwe and West Indies. Scotland will hope that they will be able to make a place in the Super 12 by showing good play in the first round. In the T20 World Cup, the team will start its campaign against the West Indies on 17 October.
