In another milestone, Rohit Sharma surpassed Virat Kohli as India’s second most successful captain in the T20I format after registering a thumping 40-run victory against Hong Kong during their Asia Cup 2022 cricket match on August 31.

Sharma was handed the responsibility for India’s T20I captaincy after Kohli stepped down and ever since, he has won 31 matches out of 37 matches while Kohli achieved 30 wins in 50 T20I matches.
Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni still heads the list of most successful captains in T20Is for the Men in Blue, helping India win 41 T20I matches under his captaincy from 72 matches.

Earlier, on Wednesday (August 31), Suryakumar Yadav delivered the much-needed fireworks especially in the last seven overs to help India seal its Super Four spot in Asia Cup 2022 cricket event with a 40-run win over Hong Kong in their Group A match.
When asked about his thoughts on the match, Rohit said he was pleased with the batting display, especially towards the fag end of the innings. However, he admitted that the bowling could have been better. “We batted pretty well to start with, got to a very good score. Came out and bowled reasonably well, we could have done slightly better with the ball.”
