More Afghanistan Players Join CPL 2022

Date:

Young Afghanistan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz Playing is going to play for Amazon Warriors in CPL 2022.

Gurbaz, who is only 20 and has not yet played in the CPL, has played for teams in the Bangladesh Premier League’s Khulna Tigers, the Indian Premier League’s Gujarat Titans, the Pakistan Super League’s Islamabad United, and the Lanka Premier League’s Multan Sultans (Jaffna Kings and Kandy Tuskers). Gurbaz has a strike rate of 154 in 90 T20 games overall.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, a teammate of Nabi from Afghanistan, has also secured a CPL contract this year to fill in for Amazon Warriors. He will take Heinrich Klaasen’s place as the South African wicketkeeper-batsman is going for the six-match white-ball series in India, which starts with the opening T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28. Klaasen will return home to prepare for the series.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz International Career

Gurbaz was included in the Afghan team for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017. With 117 runs in four games, Gurbaz led Afghanistan in runs scored during the 2018 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in October 2019. He was selected for Afghanistan’s under-23 squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December 2018.

Gurbaz was selected for the Afghanistan Twenty20 International (T20I) team in August 2019 in preparation for the Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series in 2019–2020. On September 14, 2019, he made his Afghanistan T20I debut against Zimbabwe.

Gurbaz was selected for the Afghanistan One Day International (ODI) team for their series against Ireland in January 2021. On January 21, 2021, he made his Afghanistan ODI debut against Ireland. He scored 127 runs, becoming the 16th player overall and the first Afghan to reach a century in ODI debut history.

He was added to the Afghanistan team in preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Gurbaz has played different T20 leagues

Gurbaz was selected to the Gujarat Titans team for the 2022 Indian Premier League in March 2022 to take Jason Roy’s place. For the third season of the Lanka Premier League, the Jaffna Kings signed him in July 2022.

Gurbaz was signed by Multan Sultans in April 2021 to participate in the rescheduled Pakistan Super League games. After the players’ draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League, he was chosen to play for the Jaffna Kings in November 2021. He was acquired by Islamabad United in December 2021 as a result of the 2022 Pakistan Super League player draught.

Nabi Joins CPL

Afghanistan’s T20I skipper Mohammad Nabi has joined the Jamaica Tallawahs for the CPL 2022 final game in Guyana. After replacing Nepalese legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane from the competition earlier this month, Nabi will strengthen Tallawahs’ spin attack.

Lamichhane’s departure from the league followed his suspension by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) following the issuance of an arrest order for him in Kathmandu due to an alleged instance of coercion by another individual. Lamichhane insists on his innocence despite this and that he is prepared to answer for the “baseless claims”.

The Tallawahs’ line-up is quite top-heavy, but Nabi will add middle-order strength. Due to national obligations, he and the majority of the other top Afghan players did not compete in CPL 2021. His most recent duty was with St. Lucia Kings, where he played an important role in the all-rounder-heavy team led by then-coach Andy Flower. During that time, he took 12 wickets in 12 games and scored 156 runs at a strike rate of 124.80. Additionally, in 2017, Nabi played for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
