Nabi Joins CPL
Afghanistan’s T20I skipper Mohammad Nabi has joined the Jamaica Tallawahs for the CPL 2022 final game in Guyana. After replacing Nepalese legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane from the competition earlier this month, Nabi will strengthen Tallawahs’ spin attack.
Lamichhane’s departure from the league followed his suspension by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) following the issuance of an arrest order for him in Kathmandu due to an alleged instance of coercion by another individual. Lamichhane insists on his innocence despite this and that he is prepared to answer for the “baseless claims”.
The Tallawahs’ line-up is quite top-heavy, but Nabi will add middle-order strength. Due to national obligations, he and the majority of the other top Afghan players did not compete in CPL 2021. His most recent duty was with St. Lucia Kings, where he played an important role in the all-rounder-heavy team led by then-coach Andy Flower. During that time, he took 12 wickets in 12 games and scored 156 runs at a strike rate of 124.80. Additionally, in 2017, Nabi played for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
