Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022

Date:

Jasprit Bumrah, the best fast bowler for India, has a back stress fracture and will not compete in the T20 World Cup, according to BCCI sources cited by news agency PTI.

Bumrah “complained of back pain during India’s practise session,” which led to his having to skip the opening T20I of the series against South Africa on Wednesday. The Indian squad, which is already dealing with Ravindra Jadeja’s absence from the T20 World Cup, would be severely hampered by Bumrah’s absence.

“Undoubtedly, Bumrah won’t participate in the World T20. He has a severe back problem. Since it’s a stress fracture, he may be out for six months “An anonymous senior BCCI official informed PTI this.

Bumrah previously had to withdraw from the 2022 Asia Cup due to a back problem as well. He featured in the second and third games of the T20I series between India and Australia earlier this month, marking his return to the Indian side.

Will Jaspirt Bumrah play the T20 World Cup 2022?

Bumrah’s injury is reportedly bad enough to put him out of play for months even though it is not considered severe enough to require surgery. Although nothing is official as of yet, Bumrah is scheduled to travel to the NCA on Thursday, and the final choice will be made after examining the available information.

Who will replace Jasprit Bumrah?

The four-man speed bowling squad, which also included Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel, was announced for the T20 World Cup in Australia. India will likely choose between Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar to take Bumrah’s position in the lineup now that he is apparently out due to injury. Both players have been listed as standbys for the prestigious competition.

Mohammed Siraj, who presently represents Warwickshire as a County player, is another name that is in the news.

Bumrah’s absence will hurt Team India

The fact that Bumrah won’t be competing in the T20 World Cup is a huge setback for the BCCI, who went to great efforts to protect the Indian pacer. Bumrah has played in just three T20Is out of the team’s 24 games so far since India resumed play following the 2022 Indian Premier League. After the IPL, he participated in six international games for the team, which also included a Test and two ODIs (all against England).

Bumrah is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in contemporary cricket. He has played for India in 60 T20 Internationals so far, and his 70 wickets rank second among fast bowlers for India in this format.

Ravindra Jadeja out of T20 World Cup 2022 too

Earlier this month, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s knee injury forced him out of the T20 World Cup, dealing Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, yet another devastating blow. Axar Patel, though, stepped up in his absence and provided steady play for India in recent T20I matches against Australia and South Africa.
