India to meet Pakistan on August 28 – Asia Cup 2022 schedule

India and Pakistan will square off for the first time since playing in the 2021 T20 World Cup on August 28 in Dubai for an Asia Cup 2022 match, just one day after commencement of the tournament which sees Sri Lanka and Afghanistan play the opening game.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Afghanistan on August 30 in Sharjah. This year’s event will be played in a T20 format ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup scheduled to begin in October.

The Asia Cup 2022 schedule was announced on Tuesday. India and Pakistan along with the team that wins the qualifying tournament form Group A. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will compete in Group B.

The qualifiers to determine the sixth team will begin in Oman on August 20. For a place in Group A, the competing teams include UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong besides India and Pakistan who have already booked their berths.

In the last Asia Cup 2018 edition, which was played in an ODI format, India had won the title after beating Bangladesh in the last ball in Dubai.

India v Pakistan: 28 August, Dubai
India v Qualifier: 31 August, Dubai
Pakistan v Qualifier: 2 September, Sharjah

Group B:

Sri Lanka v Afghanistan: 27 August, Dubai
Bangladesh v Afghanistan, 30 August, Sharjah
Sri Lanka v Bangladesh, 1 September, Dubai

Super 4:

B1 v B2: 3 September, Sharjah
A1 v A2: 4 September, Dubai
A1 v B1: 6 September, Dubai
A2 v B2: 7 September, Dubai
A1 v B2: 8 September, Dubai
B1 v A2: 9 September, Dubai

All Asia Cup 2022 matches will begin at 7:30 pm IST, with ten games to be played in Dubai and another three in Sharjah.
