Hardik Pandya planned each over individually and would have “fancied” his chances even if India had required 15 runs to defeat Pakistan instead of the seven it scored in the final over to win the Asia Cup opener.

In a hunt like this, you should always plan ahead. After the game, Pandya remarked, “I always knew there was one young bowler (Naseem Shah or Shahnawaz Dahani) and also one left-arm spinner (Nawaz).

“We only needed seven runs off the final over, but I would have been on myself even if we needed 15.” In the 20th over, I am aware that the bowler is under greater pressure than I am. “I try to keep things simple,” the top all-rounder for India, remarked.

Pandya was aware that in order to mix short balls and get batsmen to make errors, he needed to bowl. “When bowling, it’s crucial to analyze the circumstances and employ your weapons. My strengths have been bowling short and hard distances. To get the batters to make a mistake, you need to use them effectively and ask the correct questions, he added.
