All-rounder Axar Patel, who replaced Ravindra Jadeja in the Australia series on a like-for-like basis, worked his magic in the final match of the series on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In the third and final T20I of the bilateral series between India and Australia at Hyderabad, the star all-rounder was the series’ main player.
After the seasoned all-rounder, Jadeja was forced to withdraw from the whole Asia Cup owing to injury, Axar took his position in the T20I team. Jadeja, a seasoned performer for the Rohit Sharma-led team in all forms, will also be absent from the forthcoming ICC World T20.
Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade, and Josh Inglis were all key wickets that Axar took in the series-deciding match between India and Australia. The all-three rounder’s wickets and 33 runs allowed India to defeat Australia by six wickets on Sunday. For his bowling prowess, Axar was also awarded the Player of the Series. Ajay Jadeja, a former Indian cricketer, praised Axar Patel after the Australia series was over and described how Axar seized the chance.

“Once Axar Patel won his first game, it appeared as though he had it given the level of talent he had. He has seized the chance wholeheartedly. Ravindra Jadeja is missed by all of us, but nobody misses him from a bowling perspective. Axar Patel has joined the bowling attack; he bats well, but his one weakness is in the field ” Ajay Jadeja told Cricbuzz.
Ajay Jadeja also discussed India’s victory over Australia in the series. After a dramatic victory over Australia on Sunday in the last over, India, led by Rohit, also broke Pakistan’s global record.
“When you look at it right now, there is stability; they are certain of the person they want and the manner in which they want to play. For me, that is a crucial consideration as we approach the World Cup. The questions have all been addressed. The team’s mental consistency has been the most encouraging aspect of this series”, Jadeja concluded.
