CPL 2022: ‘Baby AB’ hits five consecutive sixes while batting, video goes viral

Date:

South Africa’s uncapped batsman Dewald Brevis has shown his greatness in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) currently being played. Playing for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Brevis hit five consecutive sixes in the match against Trinbago Knight Riders.

In the match played in Providence, Brevis came to bat in the last over. In the fourth ball of the 19th over, Brevis hit left-arm spin bowler Akil Hossein for a big six over long-on. After this, he also succeeded in hitting sixes in the next two balls. Brevis then faced Darin Dupavillon, who came to bowl the 20th over of the innings, whose last two balls he hit two sixes. Brevis played just six balls in the match and scored an unbeaten 30 with five sixes.

It is worth noting that Brevis’s style of playing is like that of former Proteas legend AB de Villiers, that is why he is also known as ‘Baby AB’. Brevis made his mark in the Under-19 World Cup, after which he was bought by Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. However, he has not played any international matches for the senior team of South Africa so far.

St Kitts won the match

On the other hand, if we talk about the match, then St Kitts defeated Trinbago by seven runs. Batting first, St Kitts scored 163 runs for the loss of six wickets. Sherfane Rutherford from the St Kitts team played a brilliant innings of 78 runs in 50 balls. In reply, Trinbago could only manage 156 runs for the loss of seven wickets after playing the entire over. Wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert from Trinbago scored 59 runs in 47 balls but could not lead the team to victory.
