On Saturday, Pakistan suffered a setback when star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was forced to withdraw from the forthcoming Asia Cup owing to injury. The 22-year-old has been instructed to take it easy for the next four to six weeks, so he won’t be playing in the Asia Cup or the home series against England. Another Pakistani pacer, Mohammad Amir, was trending on Twitter after Shaheen Afridi left the Asia Cup because fans wanted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to choose him as Shaheen’s replacement.

Shaheen Afridi’s injury is a problem for Pakistan
Shaheen Afridi’s right knee ligament was injured, and the medical staff prescribed 4-6 weeks of recuperation. Despite being a member of the squad, the left-arm seamer was rested from the current ODI series against the Netherlands because of an injury sustained during the Test series against Sri Lanka. He was supposed to arrive back at the Asia Cup. In the T20 World Cup 2021, Afridi upset India’s top order and was named Player of the Match, thus his absence will be a huge setback to Pakistan.
Amir, who has been a valuable asset for Pakistan, responded to the news of Afridi’s withdrawal from the team by making the cheeky tweet that he doesn’t understand why his name is trending on Twitter.
His tweet demonstrates how excited he is to play for the national team once more. In past games, he has also caused trouble for Indian batters with his left arm angle. However, Amir made himself eligible for selection last year despite having retired from international cricket in 2020. Since then, he has not been taken into consideration by the PCB, and it is unclear whether the organization will do so now that India is struggling, particularly against left-arm pacers.
