Yasir Shah advises the Pakistani side not to underestimate Virat Kohli

Date:

Yasir Shah asks the Pakistan cricket team not to underestimate Virat Kohli in the upcoming Asia Cup. Read below to know what he exactly said.

The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, one of cricket’s most anticipated competitions, is almost here, and the teams from the subcontinent are hard at work getting ready. The event can provide the Asian countries with plenty of game plans and opportunities to practice their World Cup strategies ahead of the T20I World Cup, which is slated to be played in Australia later this year.

Yasir Shah, a spinner for Pakistan, has advised his side to be on the lookout for Virat Kohli ahead of the eagerly awaited Asia Cup because he thinks that the Indian cricketer could at any moment find his form again. Yasir said in an interview with paktv.tv that Pakistani players shouldn’t undervalue Kohli despite the fact that he may not be in the best of forms right now since he might soon start scoring runs again. Players from Pakistan were warned by Yasir Shah not to underestimate Kohli.

Virat Kohli is in poor form

Virat Kohli has not been at his best. In a Pink Ball Test match against Bangladesh in 2019 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium, he scored his last international century. In the game, Kohli made 136 runs, giving him 70 international centuries overall and his 27th century in a Test match. Since then, Kohli has played 78 innings without a century to his credit. Despite his deteriorating condition, Kohli hit 57 off 49 balls in the last game he played against Pakistan.

Former Indian captain Virat’s recent matches against England were pretty miserable. The current situation is so dire that a batsman who once regularly scored hundreds of runs in Test, ODI, and T20I matches couldn’t even reach the 100-run threshold. He then decided not to play in the series against the West Indies and Zimbabwe and will now make a return right away in the Asia Cup.

Later this month, Kohli is expected to go directly to the UAE to join the Indian team for the Asia Cup. Supporters of India will be hopeful that Kohli scores runs in the tournament and returns to form. On August 28, India and Pakistan are supposed to play each other. Most likely, Kohli will be a member of the starting lineup and might bat at No. 3 as usual.
