#3 The first mega event happening with the new rules issued by the ICC
Recently, the ICC had made changes in many old rules in international cricket, which came into effect from 1 October. The T20 World Cup 2022 is the first mega event of the ICC in which all matches are being played under the new rules. We have mentioned five main rules among them.
Mankading’s law was one of the most controversial rules of cricket. According to this rule, if a batsman standing on non-strike goes out of the crease before the ball is out of the bowler’s hand, then the bowler can run him out by scattering his nails. However, the ICC has now given it the status of a valid run out.
In the second rule, each team has to complete the bowling overs on time. Otherwise, an additional fielder will have to be brought within 30 yards. This rule was also seen in the Asia Cup.
Talking about the third rule, earlier if a batsman was caught out, and if the strike was changed before the catch, then the old batsman could take the strike in place of the batsman who got out. But in the new rule, only the new batsman will take the strike.
In the fourth new rule, if a player deliberately moves from his place during the bowler’s run-up, then 5 runs will be awarded to the batting team as a penalty and the ball will be declared dead.
According to the fifth rulw, now batsmen have to play a shot by keeping some part of their bat inside the pitch or keeping themselves inside. If a batsman goes outside the pitch to play a shot, the umpire will declare that ball as a dead ball. Along with this, if any bowler forces the batsman to come out of the pitch and play, then that ball will be given a no ball.
#2 Australia is hosting the T20 World Cup for the first time
T20 World Cup 2022 has been organized this time in Australia. This is the first time that Australia has got the opportunity to host this tournament. In the year 2020 also Australia was selected to host this event but due to Kovid-19 then the tournament was postponed. After this, the seventh T20 World Cup was played in Dubai in 2021.
#1 Host and defending champion from the same country
In the last T20 World Cup, Australia won the title by defeating New Zealand.
Australia has got the opportunity to host the 8th T20 World Cup. This is the first time in T20 World Cup history that both the hosting and defending champions of the event are from the same country. This was not seen in the last seven editions that have happened before.
