Virat Kohli Makes New Record after Defeating Hong Kong

On August 31, 2022, the Indian squad, under the direction of Rohit Sharma, faced Hong Kong at the Dubai International stadium. The powerful Indian squad, who had beaten Pakistan in the opening game of Group A, advanced, earning a spot in the Asia Cup’s Super 4 round, where they will likely play Pakistan once more. 

However, Pakistan’s destiny now depends totally on their matchup with Hong Kong. Team India did win their game against Hong Kong, and there were a few positives, but right now they will be thrilled with Virat Kohli’s performance.

India vs Hong Kong Highlights

Hong Kong elected to field first after winning the toss. To the dismay of Indian supporters, KL Rahul never seemed to appear like the one who can get going. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the batting for India, and expectations were high for them to go big and score quickly. Rohit Sharma scored 21 points off 13 deliveries, and Rahul scored 36 points off 39 deliveries. As Virat Kohli stepped out to bat for team India, all eyes were on him.

The former India skipper impressed against Pakistan and lived up to expectations that he would reprise his heroics. Virat Kohli, who gave signs that he might be back, played a tough inning in which he scored 59* runs in 44 deliveries. The Royal Challengers Bangalore former skipper hit many boundaries and sixes, giving him a strike rate of 134.09. With his opponent Suryakumar Yadav, who hit a gallant 68 off 26 deliveries with 6 sixes and 6 boundaries, they combined for a partnership of 98 runs.

Virat Kohli makes a new record

When it comes to half-centuries, Virat Kohli has recently outpaced his rivals David Warner, Babar Azam, and Martin Guptill. Together with the current India captain, Rohit Sharma, the former captain of India now has the maximum number of fiftys. 

In 93 innings, Virat has struck 31 half-centuries in total. The former captain of team India received praise from the entire cricket community and was given a shirt by the Hong Kong cricket team after the game.
