Before the start of the 2022 T20 World Cup, India and New Zealand, included in the Super 12, had to play their last warm-up match against each other. In this match, both the teams had the last chance to assess their preparations but due to rain, the toss was not possible and the match was called off. The match between the two teams was to begin at 1:30 PM IST in Brisbane, but it rained incessantly and the match was called off, with no prospect of resumption of play. Now both the teams will be seen playing directly in the tournament in their respective groups.
There was already a possibility of rain disrupting the match but it was not thought that a single ball game would be possible. The BCCI informed about the rain through its Twitter account and the cut-off time for five-five overs was stated as 4.16 PM IST.

However, the rain continued and after half an hour the BCCI informed them about the cancellation of the match.
The Indian team defeated the defending T20 World Cup winners Australia by 6 runs in their first warm-up match. On the other hand, New Zealand was badly defeated by South Africa. The team could not even score 100 runs while batting first.
