West Indies Cricket Team’s legendary young batsman Shimron Hetmyer missed his flight to Australia twice and due to this he has now been dropped from the T20 World Cup squad. In his place, Shamrah Brooks has been named in the West Indies team, who had a tremendous performance in the CPL recently.
Shimron Hetmyer was first to leave for Australia on October 1, but he sought a short time and the flight was rescheduled on Monday on his request. However, this time Hetmyer missed the flight. Citing family reasons, he said that he would not be able to go to Australia right now. For this reason, Shamrah Brooks has now been given a place in the World Cup squad in his place.
Shamrah Brooks did a great performance in the CPL
If we talk about Shamrah Brooks, recently he had a great performance for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League and played an important role in winning them the title. He also played a tremendous innings of 109 runs in the second qualifier match.
West Indies Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams said,
When we had scheduled Shimron Hetmyer’s flight from Saturday to Monday, we told him that if he didn’t come this time, he would be dropped from the squad. The West Indies have to prepare for the World Cup and we can’t compromise on that.
West Indies also have to play a T20 series against Australia before the World Cup. The first match will be played on October 5. This is the reason why Shamrah Brooks was immediately included in place of Shimron Hetmyer. Many legends are missing from West Indies’ World Cup squad this time.
