Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has given a big reaction to Dinesh Karthik after the defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022. He explained why Dinesh Karthik is not being given a place in the playing XI for the last two matches. According to Rohit Sharma, the team wants a left-handed batsman in the playing XI and that is why Pant is being given a chance in place of Karthik.
Dinesh Karthik played in the group stage match against Pakistan, where he got a chance to play only one ball on which he took a single. At the same time, his batting did not come in the match against Hong Kong. When the Indian team once again faced Pakistan in the Super-4 against Pakistan, Dinesh Karthik was dropped. In the match against Sri Lanka, only Rishabh Pant was given a chance. However, Pant was a flop in both the matches and could not score big.
We needed a left-hander in the playing XI – Rohit Sharma
When Rohit Sharma was asked about Dinesh Karthik, he said that it is important to have a left-handed batsman in the team. He said that – ‘Dinesh Karthik has not been dropped from the team because of his form. We wanted to have a left-handed batsman in the team to ease the pressure. We will have flexibility in our playing XI for a player like Dinesh Karthik.’
