Since India’s unexpected elimination from the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year, Shami hasn’t played in a single T20 International match while wearing the Indian flag. In the major competition, the senior bowler has taken six wickets in five games at an economy of 8.84.
Mohammed Shami would be overlooked by Indian selectors for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia in the months of October and November, according to former Indian fast bowler Madam Lal.
After India’s 10-wicket loss to Pakistan in their opening Super 12 match, Shami received criticism on Twitter. Despite being a regular in the Tests and ODI teams, Shami is not on the Indian selectors’ radar for the game’s shorter format.

Shami had a good IPL season
Shami wasn’t given a chance to play in a single T20I series for India after taking 20 wickets in 16 games for Gujarat Titans during their IPL 2022 championship run. The selectors have instead given chances to new comers like Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh.
Madan Lal commenting on Shami’s selection
“If the Indian selectors don’t choose Shami, they will commit a grave error. He is an excellent bowler and has previously performed well in Australia. Shami should unquestionably be included in the T20 World Cup roster. He is, after Bumrah, our finest bowler. In search of a bowler who could help me get wickets, I don’t want bowlers who solely try to stop runs from scoring. In this arrangement, batters will keep scoring runs. Taking wickets is the only way to stop the flow of runs, Madan Lal said to Sportskeeda.
“I don’t know why they didn’t choose him for T20s. Do you honestly believe that he isn’t a better bowler than the current players? He is among the top bowlers in all of cricket, he continued.
