The Barbados Royals, who only managed three victories last season, have amassed six victories in six games so far this year, making them the only unbeaten team in the competition.
In their previous meeting, Royals dominated Trinbago Knight Riders in a game that was hampered by rain. Oshane Thomas, a fast bowler, and Devon Thomas, a part-time off spinner, sparked a TKR collapse after punchy half-centuries from Kyle Mayers and captain David Miller carried them to 194 for 4, which led to a collapse in which Kieron Pollard’s team lost seven wickets in the first seven overs of their chase. Even though it was raining at Gros Islet, there would be no way for TKR to return.
The top order of the Royals was essential to their previous triumphs over the St. Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs. Corbin Bosch, a South African all-around player, scored two different fifties to lead those Royals chases.
