With a second half-century in the Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli surpasses Rohit Sharma

Date:

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 competition, former skipper Virat Kohli achieved his 32nd T20I fifty on Sunday, September 4. This is a hint that he may be returning to his best form. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium during India’s Super 4 game against Pakistan, Kohli hit his half-century run with a bottom-handed six.

Virat Kohli’s second fifty came in the Asia Cup 2022, and the former skipper has looked sharp ever since returning to international play after an almost two-month rest. In India’s 5-wicket victory against Pakistan in the group round, Kohli opened with an important 34-ball 35. Prior to Hong Kong in the competition, he scored 59 off 44 balls with 3 sixes and a boundary.

Virat Kohli scored 60 runs off of 44 balls during India’s Super Four victory over Pakistan, helping his team to a total of 181 for 7 after 20 overs. In a stroke that served as the foundation for the Indian innings, the former skipper struck six and four boundaries. Even though wickets were falling frequently at the other end, Kohli maintained his composure and lasted until the very last over.

Virat Kohli, though, struggled in the final over, throwing three dot balls. When Kohli was batting with lower-order hitter Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he attempted to hold the strike in the final over before being run out for 60.

Is Virat Kohli back in form?

Before the Asia Cup in 2022, Kohli was in poor form, scoring just 81 runs in 4 games. For the India team’s July–August tour to the West Indies and Zimbabwe, Kohli took a sabbatical and did not travel. The former captain, though, has disproven doubters with a strong start to his Asia Cup campaign.

India’s top run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2022 is Kohli, who has 154 runs in three games. Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan, who started the game, is now in second place with 135 runs, as Kohli has passed him.
