Kuwait handed Singapore a convincing 6-wicket win in what turned out to be an inconsequential result ahead of the UAE—Hong Kong match. Hong Kong have progressed to the Asia Cup 2022 cricket tournament after defeating the UAE by 6 wickets too. Kuwait finished second in the Asia Cup 2022 qualifiers followed by UAE in third and Singapore at the bottom.

Hong Kong now join powerhouses India and Pakistan in Group A and will play their first match against defending champions India on August 31.
Singapore had won the toss and elected to bat first against Kuwait. They were bundled out for a meagre 104, not playing out the 20 overs. In reply, Kuwait completely dominated Singapore’s bowling, reaching the target with six wickets and 73 balls to spare. Yasin Patel was the adjudged player of the match for his 4/22, in addition to taking two valuable catches.

The outcome means that neither Kuwait nor Singapore, once again, has been able to feature in the Asia Cup cricket event.
