The Caribbean hosts an annual Twenty20 cricket competition known as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL or CPLT20). It was established by Cricket West Indies in 2013 to take the position of the Caribbean Twenty20 as the region’s top Twenty20 tournament. The Hero CPL is the official name of the league, which is now sponsored by Hero MotoCorp. The Jamaica Tallawahs won the first edition after defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final match.
Six teams compete in the CPL T20, which is split into a group stage and a knockout stage. The teams play a total of 10 matches in the group stage, three of which are at home. This tournament’s peculiar format is created by the co-location of all six teams at one playing location for its first five consecutive games, after which the whole event shifts to a new venue for its next five games.
There are six stadiums in use, each serving as a team’s home field. The playoff stage consists of two semifinal games and a final to decide the tournament champion. At Queen’s Park Oval and Brian Lara Stadium, all three elimination playoff matches will take place.
As the current CPL season is going on, the tickets for the second batch are on sale.
