Punjab Kings and their captain Mayank Agarwal were in the headlines and the team has now released a statement to clear out the things.
Earlier this week, Mayank Agarwal, an Indian cricketer, was in the headlines after reports suggested that the Punjab Kings franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) intended to remove him from his captaincy duties. On Wednesday morning, however, the group posted an explanation concerning the rumors on their official social media accounts. No PBKS representative has made a statement about the matter, Punjab Kings claimed in the tweet.
According to the same report, it was said that the Punjab Kings have also chosen to split company with head coach Anil Kumble. Due to their poor performance over the past three seasons, Punjab Kings are reportedly considering removing the renowned India skipper Kumble. Although the report said the team is in contact with Eoin Morgan and Trevor Bayliss over the coaching position prior to the IPL 2023, PBKS failed to include Kumble in their statement on Wednesday.

Mayank Agarwal stats with Punjab Kings
In his 13 games for PBKS during the IPL 2022, Mayank managed just 196 runs at an average of 16.33 and a strike rate of 122.50. Only once did he surpass the 50-run threshold, and the 2022 season saw him record his greatest hit of 52 runs. His 2021 and 2020 statistics, in which he scored 441 runs in 12 games and 424 runs in 13 games, respectively, stood in stark contrast to his 2022 statistics.
Punjab Kings in IPL
Punjab had seven victories and seven losses in 14 matches during the 2022 IPL season, placing them sixth in the standings. When there were only eight teams in the tournament the previous two years, PBKS finished sixth in 2021 with six victories and eight losses and sixth in 2020 with the same number of wins. Prior to the IPL 2022 mega auctions, star Indian batter KL Rahul made the decision to split with PBKS, which resulted in Mayank being promoted to the position.
