For the rest of the Hero Caribbean Premier League, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) has drafted English all-rounder Samit Patel to replace fast bowler Jayden Seales.
Seales, age 21, did not play for the TKR versus Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday. In the match on Wednesday against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, he only bowled one over.
With the final leg of the preliminary phase and the playoffs taking place in Guyana, a spinner’s paradise, Patel, 37, offers TKR another spinning option. Patel averages 25.10 with the bat at a 125.35 strike rate and has 319 T20 wickets.
Who is Samit Patel?
Samit Rohit Patel plays cricket for England. He represents Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club in first-class cricket as a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler. In August 2008, Patel played for England in his first One Day International, although he was later benched for lack of fitness. He returned to the ODI team in 2011 after a two-and-a-half-year break, made his Twenty20 International debut, and earned his first Test cap in 2012 during the England tour of Sri Lanka. He then became the 651st player to play for England in Test cricket.

Samit Patel played his first ODI against India
Patel took part in the opening ODI matchup with India. He scored 2-78 as India finished with a score of 387. He responded with a run every ball of 28, but England was outscored by 158 runs. With Patel taking 0-37 and making with the bat, India also prevailed in the second ODI.
Patel failed to make an impact with the ball once more as England was bowled out for 240 in the third one-day international as he scored 26. The following game saw Patel pick up his third series wicket, but England once more fell short, this time by 19 runs with the DL Method. Patel was not needed to bat in the final match, and he once more failed to have an effect with the ball.
Patel made his T20 World Cup debut against Afghanistan and had a stellar performance, taking 2-6 off three overs as England defeated Afghanistan by 116 runs. He also participated in the match against the West Indies, however, his performance cost England more runs as he recorded final stats of 0-38. He took part in England’s final match of the competition against Sri Lanka, leading the team to 150 runs—19 runs short of Sri Lanka’s total—on the strength of the best score of 67. England was unable to get to the semifinals.
