A new batsman has ascended to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Player Rankings for T20 Internationals as a result of his remarkable performance in the Asia Cup.
The top T20I batter in the world is now Mohammad Rizwan, who has overtaken Babar Azam. In the Asia Cup, Rizwan has been in outstanding form, topping the run charts with 192 runs in three games. With scores of 78* and 71, respectively, Rizwan was Pakistan’s lynchpin with the bat in their back-to-back victories over India and Hong Kong. He has surpassed Babar, who has had a rocky start to the tournament, by moving up one place as a result of his performances.

Babar Azam dominated the T20I Ranking
Rizwan is just the third Pakistani batter to hold the top spot in the T20I rankings after Babar and Misbah-ul-Haq. Throughout his career, Babar has dominated the T20I batting rankings for 1155 days (as of 7 September).
Other players also moved up
Pathum Nissanka has moved up one slot to No. 8 in the batting order following his impressive performance in the Asia Cup, among other significant changes to the batting order. In his previous three games, Nissanka had scored 20, 35, and 52 points, with his most recent effort helping Sri Lanka defeat India in a Super Four match.
Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz is one of the best movers, moving up 14 spots to No. 15 owing to his 84 against Sri Lanka in the Super Four game. Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, jumps four spots to No. 13 following his 72 against Sri Lanka.
Following their outstanding performances, the spinners from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have seen the largest increases in the bowling charts. Due to Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s 2/30, he is now tied for sixth place with Akeal Hosein after moving up three spots.
