The Sri Lankan Cricket Board (SLC) has decided to include three additional players in its squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Fast bowler Binura Fernando was injured in the last match against Australia, before that fast bowler Dushmantha Chamira has also not appeared in the Super 12 matches due to injury.
For this reason, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has decided to send three additional players to Australia, which includes the names of one wicketkeeper and two fast bowlers.

Giving information about this news on its official handle on social media, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board wrote that, ‘Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to send 3 additional players to Australia as a backup. If the national T20 team participating in the World Cup requires any form, then these players will be included in the team. Niroshan Dickwella (wicketkeeper batsman), Asitha Fernando, and Matheesa Pathirana (fast bowler) will be sent along with Tim McCaskill, the head of the Board’s High Performance Center. The trio will train under McCaskill and live in Melbourne, adding to the national team only when necessary.
