The T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia will take place at a number of locations, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). It has the highest seating capacity of any cricket stadium in Australia.
For a long time before Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium broke it, the MCG also held the record for the largest cricket stadium in the world. The Narendra Modi Stadium can hold 132,000 spectators, compared to the MCG’s around 100,000 capacity.
More than 90,000 spectators watched the latest T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan at the MCG.
Most viewers of the game on television or those who followed it on social media would have noticed that the commentators frequently referred to the MCG as the “G” on air.
The MCG is affectionately referred to as the “G” by local Australian fans. It is regarded as the centre of Australian cricket by certain enthusiasts. The Ground, sometimes known as the “G” Down Under, is the largest cricket ground in Australia in terms of seating capacity.
The Australian Football League, Rugby League, WWE Super Show Down 2018, Commonwealth Games, and Olympics, in addition to cricket, have all taken place at the MCG.
The T20 World Cup 2022 Final will take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The 50-over World Cup was co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand seven years ago, and the tournament’s championship game was played at the MCG.
Australia defeated New Zealand in the final match to claim victory that year. The teams that advance to the finals this year will be exciting to see. Three Super 12 matches have already taken place at the MCG, and three more will before the final.
Friday’s matchups at the G include contests between Afghanistan and Ireland and Australia vs. England. On November 6 in Melbourne, India will play their final Super 12 game against Zimbabwe.
